The Discovery Dino Squishy Maker is not a kit that ends when the activity is over. Kids mix two chemical solutions, add a color pigment, pour the mixture into the volcano-shaped mold, and four hours later pull out a real squishy dinosaur finger puppet they built from scratch. Six times over. The chemistry is real, the process is genuinely fun, and the result is a toy they actually want to play with when it is done.
How It Works
The process is simple enough for kids ages 6 and up to follow independently with adult supervision nearby. Kids assemble the two-piece volcano mold and lock it into place, then combine one packet of Squishy Solution A, one packet of Squishy Solution B, and one color pigment bottle in a mixing cup. They stir until fully combined, pour each mixture into one side of the mold, insert the lava cap, and let everything set for at least four hours. When the time is up, an adult helps pull the lava cap and separate the mold to release two squishy dinosaur finger puppets. Repeat the process five more times with the remaining solution packets and pigment colors to build a full set of six.
If the finished dinosaurs feel slightly sticky after demolding, a quick wash with soap and water takes care of it. The stickiness resolves naturally within a couple of days as the material finishes curing.
